My daughter Katie is having thyroid treatment at CHOC hospital, and even though she has insurance, the out-of-pocket costs are huge. Her necessary treatments, including meditation tests, were expensive. At the same time, my son, Ken, is about to enter college. He studies very well and participates actively in his studies, but the cost of tuition, books and living expenses are beyond our current financial capacity, especially additional medical expenses. fig.
