I’m writing this message with a heavy heart, desperately reaching out for help during a time when our future is hanging in the balance. We are facing a crisis that threatens to take away the home we have worked so hard to keep—a place where we have built our lives over the years. We urgently need to come up with $4,400 by May 1st, 2025, or we will lose our home due to missed mortgage payments.
My husband, who has devoted 40 years to his skilled trade, recently had his hours dramatically cut back last October. This reduction in work is something he has never experienced in the four decades of his career—the last time such a setback occurred was over 30 years ago. Despite his lifelong dedication to his profession, the slowdown in work has left us financially strained and struggling to meet our basic obligations. When we tried to seek help through unemployment benefits, we faced further setbacks. His application was denied because he remains employed, and even after appealing the decision, we were met with the same unfortunate outcome. This has been a crushing blow, adding to our anxiety as we navigate this crisis.
In our desperate bid to keep our home and cover essential expenses, we recently reached out to emergency assistance programs. Unfortunately, we were informed that they couldn’t provide help because the state had not allocated any funds for this purpose. With our credit cards maxed out and no other source of financial relief available, we find ourselves cornered with very few options. My husband has started taking on a part-time job and is actively looking for additional work, but these efforts are simply not enough to bridge the significant gap in our finances. I, due to a disability, am unable to work and am not receiving Social Security benefits, which further compounds our difficulties.
This situation is overwhelming, especially at our age, as we never imagined we would face such an uncertain future. The thought of losing our home is terrifying, not only because of the financial loss but also because of the emotional toll it would take on our well-being. Our home is more than just a building—it’s a sanctuary filled with memories, a place where we have celebrated joys, weathered hardships, and found solace. The possibility of losing it leaves us feeling vulnerable, scared, and in desperate need of support.
We are reaching out in hopes that someone, somewhere, can extend a helping hand during this critical moment. Any assistance, no matter how small, would mean the world to us and could make the difference between keeping our home and facing homelessness. We are truly desperate, and we humbly ask for any help, advice, or support you can offer to help us overcome this dire challenge. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for considering our appeal in these desperate times.
