In 2020, after returning from maternity leave, I was given notice at work. The company was laying off employees for economic reasons. For the next 16 months, I was looking for a job without success, until I found out I was pregnant. I stopped looking for a job because I wanted to be honest with my future potential employer. If I had told them I was pregnant right away, no one would have hired me anyway. However, if I had hidden the fact that I was pregnant and it came out during work, I would have felt like a fraud and it is very possible that I would have lost my job again after maternity leave. That is why I decided to stop looking for a full-time job for a while.
Less than a year after the birth of my second child, in the first half of 2023, I started looking for a job again, unfortunately with a similar result. Rising inflation, the effects of the Covid pandemic and the war in Ukraine affected the level of fees, interest rates and prices in Poland, so we no longer had enough money to pay all bills and obligations. We stopped paying rent on our apartment, so we have a debt that is currently being dealt with by the bailiff.
I am a pattern designer by profession, a photographer by passion, I also design and make wire jewelry. I recently tried my hand at making wooden lamps and I definitely intend to go in this direction. My partner is also a photographer, he draws well and loves to create.
In May this year I started a sole proprietorship and recently launched an online store, where you can currently buy our selected photos and offers of photography workshops. I also connected it to Etsy and Pinterest to expand my customer base. However, I know that it will take a lot of time and commitment to make it profitable and for us to get back on our feet.
I am currently taking care of my younger son until he goes to kindergarten in September 2025, so my time for marketing is limited (it is almost 2 am when I write this). My partner works part-time at the local photography association, and the rest of his time is devoted – you could say – to the charity of this association. Sometimes he gets photography assignments, but unfortunately it is not a steady, stable income.
That is why I decided to ask here for help in paying off this debt so that we can continue living in our apartment and focus on developing our business based on our passions and what we love to do, creating objects that please the eye and add charm to the interior.
I would be very grateful if you decide to support me in this situation.
