65 Year old women about to go into foreclosure

I’m 65 and trying really hard to stave off the wolfs at my Mortgage company.  About 3 years ago I started having Medical issues. I missed a lot of work, and went out on FMLA 3 times in a 2 year period. I needed to go out again a few months after just returning.  I started having issues with acute Diverticulitis and eventually had surgery to remove part of my bowel.  I was forced into early retirement. Early I say because I was not financially ready for retirement.

One month after Surgery ,I received a call from my sisters stating that our 90 year old Mother who needed round the clock care would be needing to come live with me on and off and that I needed to do construction on my bathroom so she could get in and out of the bathroom and shower without difficulty. It was not an ask, it was a demand.

I was not physically or financially able to do this.  They called and said mother wanted to pay for it. They hounded and hounded me to get the bathroom completed. I did everything I could to find someone who was reputable and could start and end the reconstruction in a timely manner. During this time, one of my sisters was diagnosed with a rare form of Liver cancer and passed away with in 2 months of the diagnosis.

It turns out business references can be forged. You never know who you are really talking with when you make the reference calls. I hired the handyman from hell!!

The construction people rarely showed up and when they did, they rarely did any work and were only there for a few hours. After 4 months since I hired them I had to accept the job as is. Plumbing issues galore. My downstair family room was flooding and the water was coming from the ceiling under the bathroom remodel.

Because of all of this my mom was never able to come live with me and is living with my sister. What was a gift from my mother for the bathroom was only a loan and not a gift as my deceased sister my living sister had originally told me.  My mom has dementia and is not able to remember things or stick up for herself for me. My sister became a really wicked person and started demanding I pay my mother back.

She told the entire family, nieces, nephews, anuts, anyone that would listen that I took money from mother and need to pay it back. It has been a nightmare. I’m just devastated.

I started living on Credit cards and quickly fell behind on everything.

I actually stacked up a whopping 31,000 in Credit card debit trying to complete the bathroom, I still have plumbing issues. Paying my various bills by CC, etc.

A mortgage you are not able to pay by credit card so I fell 10 months behind on it. I was finally able to get a new job.  In January I was able to start making Mortgage payments but I’m only able to  afford the actual monthly amount and not the extra to pay off what I’m behind. I have been negotiating with my Mortgage company since October, buying time. But the time is now up and I have to the end of March to pay $10,950.68, in back payments to keep my house from foreclosure.

I have no one in which I can ask for help. I have no family that will speak with me and I have really poor credit now and can not get a loan.  At 65 you never think this is where you will be in life. I have credit card debit that I have to pay  and  I have to still get the bathroom plumbing corrected and floor  issues corrected. Those over time I hope to chisel away at. But my home I can not lose. If I lose my house I will be on the streets. I honestly have tried everything. Please won’t you help. Thank you.
