My wife was diagnosed last June(2024) with stage 4 cervical cancer at the age of 30….this last year was devastating on my family with the treatments, surgeries and the toll ot took on my wifes appearance and financially it hit us harder then I realized. My wife passed away at 31. Just 3 weeks shy of her 1 year diagnosis mark. We have a 7yr old and 9 yr old. I had a forbearance on our mortgage during the time of her treatments, thats up now because its been a year. We didnt get life insurance b/c we were young and didnt think this could “happen to us”. So im stuck 12 months worth of mortgage payments behind. I am a veteran, so the mortgage company worked with me alittle and got my payments down from $1900.00 to $1300.00. But I was on fmla with pay the first 3 months but the past . Months without pay. I cant even afford to have a proper ceremony to say goodbye to the love of my life and my kids might not get the chance to say goodbye to their wonderful mother. I really am worried they are going to remember her how she was this past year instead of how great things were before her diagnosis. Im not asking for any particular amount.
