Dear Community,
I am reaching out in a time of great need for my family. I am the eldest of three sons, and for the past seven years, my younger brother and I have been the main support for our retired parents. Unfortunately, their modest income from social security isn’t enough to cover our basic living expenses, including rent and bills.
In 2001, I faced a severe illness that left me unable to contribute financially for a period of time. During those months, we fell behind on rent, accumulating a daunting $16,000 debt to our landlord. Despite our best efforts upon returning to work, this burden has become overwhelming.
Currently, we stand at the brink of eviction, and the thought of losing our home, the only place my parents know and cherish, is heartbreaking. My brother and I are doing everything we can, working tirelessly to cover the ongoing expenses, but we simply cannot catch up on this overdue rent.
My father sought assistance due to his low income and received a grant of $4,600, which, unfortunately, wasn’t enough to clear the full rent arrears. As a result, we find ourselves in this precarious situation, desperately seeking help to avoid losing the roof over our heads.
All we ask for is a compassionate individual with the means to help us settle this overdue rent. With your generosity, we can start anew, ensuring that my parents have a stable and secure place to call home. The weight of guilt weighs heavily on me, as this financial struggle originated during my illness, but I’m determined to restore peace of mind to my parents.
Your support would mean more than words can express. It would not only prevent us from losing our home but also grant us the chance to rebuild our lives and move forward with renewed hope and stability.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Any assistance or guidance you can offer is deeply appreciated.
Sincerely,
JM
