Never thought I’d be in this position! In the fall of 2023, I was furloughed from my career job of 10 years working with underprivileged youth. At first, I was able to fall back on freelance work to make ends meet but ultimately, things began to spiral out of my control. I’ve already had my utilities cut off for days at a time and now I’m facing eviction from my apartment that I’ve been at for 3 years. I’ve exhausted all of my options and fear being put out on the street.
I reached out to my leasing office yesterday and they said that the only way they can hold the eviction is if I bring a money order to them for $2,500 on Monday, January 28th. I then have to sign a stipulation agreement for the remaining balance due plus legal fees which is a little over $4,500. I have no family to turn to and no friends that are in the position to help. The eviction was filed in December and I was served with a 5 day summons earlier this month (January 2024). I have filed my response to the summons but don’t have enough money to continue paying my past due rent at the clerk’s office. I haven’t been able to find substantial new work, my unemployment has not been accepted yet and I’ve been denied for every personal loan I’ve applied for due to poor credit and no current income.
2023 was a rough year for a lot of people. It’s getting harder and harder to maintain a basic living. I pray for everyone in this type of situation, as the stress and depression can really take you out of your normal character. I found this site on YouTube and figure I would give it a try as a last resort. Thank you for your consideration.
