Hello everyone and thank you so much for reading this post. I am a 54 year old African American forklift driver who experienced discrimination by a group of male coworkers. The lead of the warehouse would turn my coworkers against me and I was told that they were a BAND OF BROTHERS. At the time I was the only woman working in LTL with them so that did not include me. we were a small group so it was easy for the lead to manipulate my coworkers. Also no one wanted to get the backlash so they went along with it. This lead also did favors for management. he would get up in the middle of the night and drive to check the alarm system so my older boss would not have. This lead was also a narcissist and was feeding my other boss everyday. When it came time for me to talk to my bosses about my concerns they stopped me in my tracks. I would go on to complain to human resources who was leaking back everything to management. I did a police report, paid for a lie detector test and passed with no deception, went to the EEOC, the NAACP, and talked to lawyers. In the state of Nevada there aren’t really any laws to protect employees from being mistreated. I also applied for restraining order on these men but was denied. At this point I really need to try to heal and just let go and move on. I can’t go back to driving a forklift because this is a very small industry and everyone knows everyone. winter is approaching and business will be slow. I really need some help to get on my feet and start my business as a designer. Thank you so much for your help and reading this post.
