I am writing to you today as a single mother of five beautiful children, finding myself in a situation I never imagined I would face. I am reaching out to humbly request your financial assistance during the most difficult season of my life. I am desperately seeking a donation of $8,500 to secure safe housing, repair my only vehicle, and provide basic stability for my children while I recover from severe injuries.
Earlier this year, I was the victim of a brutal domestic violence assault. I survived, but the physical and emotional toll has been devastating. The assault left me with severe injuries, including fractured facial bones, a shattered jaw, and a torn ACL with a meniscus tear in my knee. Because of the complexity of these injuries, I am enduring a prolonged recovery process that requires multiple surgeries over an extended period. These short term physical disabilities have made it impossible for me to find and maintain stable employment. I want to work, but physically, I currently cannot.
Without a steady income, our lives have unraveled. We are facing an imminent eviction from our current residence, scheduled for October 1st. The terrifying reality of my five children and me becoming homeless is closing in. To make matters worse, the one vehicle I own just recently broke down. Without a car, I cannot get to my ongoing medical appointments or transport my children to school.
I have done everything in my power to find solutions on my own. The father of my children is currently incarcerated, meaning that relying on child support is completely impossible. I have aggressively applied for state assistance and was recently approved for food stamps and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families assistance. While I am incredibly grateful for this help, the temporary amount is very small and barely scratches the surface of our housing and transportation costs.
This is exactly why I am turning to the kindness of donors like you. I need to raise exactly eight thousand five hundred dollars. This specific amount will cover the immediate moving costs and deposits for a safe new apartment, pay for the mechanical repairs my vehicle desperately needs to run again, and keep our utilities connected while I undergo my remaining surgeries. It will bridge the gap between my current physical inability to work and the day I am healed enough to enter the workforce and support my family independently.
Asking for dollars from strangers is the hardest thing I have ever had to do, but my children need safety and wellness more than I need pride. I am a hardworking mother who just experienced a horrific setback due to domestic violence. I am not looking for a permanent handout, but rather a temporary lifeline to pull my family out of this devastating crisis.
