I’m D*** and we’re in need of financial assistance. We( me , my husband and our 3 kids) are living in a hotel room. while we try to save enough money together to pay for a apartment application. We’re having problems saving due to the fact of needing to pay for our hotel room daily. Also we lost our one vehicle due to not being able to pay the car payment and the daily hotel bill. We’ve gone to the agencies that help the homeless, but because we’re able to pay for the hotel for most of the time, we aren’t considered homeless. we are in a grey area , not poor enough to be able to get housing assistance, but too rich to get housing assistance as well. I wouldn’t wish this situation on anyone.
Since we’ve become homeless we’ve learned why it’s so difficult to get oneself back to a “normal” life. We became homeless do to the awful condition of our apartment. Our apartment had a bad black mold problem as well as problems with insects and mice. I even discovered mushroom growing in my master suite under a vase. I was horrified. So I called the local health department that refused to come out and document the violation. Instead I was told to speak to the maintence manager. The health department and the maintenace manager knew each other. So there went my chance to do anything about our growing carpet mushrooms. Instead the maintence worker told me that the mushrooms were edible. Living under those conditions took a told on my health and our sons health. Each of our sons are on the Autism spectrum. My oldest son was constantly sick with colds and fevers. Sadly when I took my sons to their pediatrican I was told that there were no tests to take to find out about the constant exposure to black mold. So while dealing with bad health and now homelessness, 2023 was a awful year.
Now that we’ve been in this situation for sometime, we really want out of it. I’m looking for work to do remotely so I can be “home”. to care for my oldest son who is homeschooled. We’ve tried to get more money into our household but to no avail. The constant problem of paying for the hotel room bares us from moving forward, back to a normal life. So now I’m asking for financial help to help us to get back to normal. Please help us get out of this revolving hotel hellscape.
