Hello and Happy Holidays. I’m Kiki and I’d like to start off by saying, Thank You! I am greatful and I really appreciate you taking the time to read this.
This past year has been a real nightmare for me, my fiance, and his 3 small children.
A little over a year ago I had to leave my job to be able to help my fiance out with the kids and their school schedules.
Money was getting tight and we felt the impact of not having another paycheck. So we decided that we would try and open up a small business from out of our home to earn extra income to help us with the bills and other expenses. It definitely helped us out and everything seemed to be going smooth, for a couple of months anyhow.
In November of last year, my fiance was involved in an accident and consequently his car was totalled. This made it hard for him to get to and from work and he ended up missing days. This frightened us and we feared he’d lose his job and we wouldn’t have our main source of income anymore. So with that being said he began looking for another job. Yet he had no luck.
We continued to think positive, keeping our heads up and doing the best we can trudging forward. We held on to the hope that things will get better, they just had to. A month later, my fiance was contacted and offered a job with more hours and slightly better pay. We finally caught our break. Or so we thought.
On Father’s Day this year we got knock on our door, it was our landlord/property owner. He gave a notice that we had one month to move out because they decided that they were going to sell the property. This hit us like a ton of bricks. Literally, it made me cry. How could it be that we have to leave the place we made our home. After never missing payments for 3 years of putting in lots of love, creating memories, and feeling home, we have to leave. The kids cried and didn’t want to leave. None of us did. We were blindsided and never expected this to happen.
Being that we were already dealing with financial situations and having 30 days to find a place, during today’s rental prices and having no money, we were forced to rent a place that was half the size of the place we were renting and pay literally double the rent we were paying. We had to come up with $3600 in order to move in, and had to result in getting loans and borrowing money from family and friends.
My fiance has a full time job, and I take care of the business from home. I picked up a part time job doing Uber deliveries to help catch up with all the money owed, rent and bills. But it’s not enough. So now my fiance picked up a side job doing deliveries as well as helping me with our business orders. It’s become too much. We are always busy and the kids keep reminding us of it.
No matter how hard we try, we just can’t seem to get out of this nightmare. Our debt “hole” only seems to get deeper and harder to get out of. And its caused us tons of stress and I feel it’s starting to split our family apart.
We have never been the type of people who are able to ask others for handouts. We are not lazy and have always worked hard to provide us with the things we need. But we have reached a point where we are afraid we will never get back on our feet. Now not only are we in our original debt but we also are falling behind on rent and our electric. All of that mixed with the holidays around the corner has been stressful and depressing.
It breaks our hearts to know that this holiday season won’t be such a happy one. And it saddens us that we won’t be able to give the kids a good Christmas.
So we are asking for you to find it in your heart and help our family out of this nightmare by donating to help us reach our goal of $8000 to pay back loans, money borrowed from family and friends, to catch up on bills and rent, and give the kids a good Christmas and a good end to a nightmare of a year.
Again thank you for your time.
