Dear Kind-Hearted Strangers,
I hope this message finds you well. Today, I am reaching out on behalf of myself, John P., a dedicated individual who, like many of us, has faced unexpected challenges. Six months ago, I experienced a sudden layoff from IT job, a setback that has deeply impacted my life.
I am not just a statistic; I am a widower, a father, a friend, and a valuable member of our community. My commitment to my work and family has always been unwavering, and now I find myself in a difficult position, grappling with the financial strain that accompanies unemployment. I’ve been a single parent since 2004.
My late wife died of an overdose of opioids. She became an addict after spinal surgery. She was also in IT as a LAN Administrator, but the addiction sent her down-hill and she was fired and then passed away.
In an effort to help me rebuild and regain my footing, I am launching this fundraising campaign. The funds raised will go towards essential living expenses, bills, and medical during this challenging time. I am a type 2 diabetic with high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a significant difference.
The money I raise here is a loan to me. Once I am back at work I swear to God, the universe, the higher power, etc. that I will donate the amount and then some, back to this community and more.
I am studying to get a PMP (project manager certification) with this, I am sure I will get a job. It is highly desired. Until then I start training classes 11/14/23 and it will take 6 weeks and then another 4 to 8 weeks of studying. I will use the money raised here to get me through the next 4 to 6 months. Then hopefully back to work.
I have been interviewing for various IT positions but there are a great amount of people looking and things are slow. My unemployment stopped and I am burning through savings and do not have much left.
