HI, my name is Faith. I am 23 years old. I graduated when I was 16 so I was able to get a head start. I have been working ever since, at 17 I went to cosmetology school and been working on my career still till this day. Recently, my father passed away from covid and my mother left the country. I fell into depression, to the point that doctors wanted to prescribe me anti-depressants, but I don’t like taking stuff like that so the only way to cope with the depression was to not be alone. Here’s where my nightmare begins. I went out on Friday night in sep. 2023 with a couple of friends when I started feeling under the weather around 1:30-2:00am. I have worked all day, I was tired, and I was feeling beginners cold symptoms. i was just not feeling it that night. So I decided to go back to my friend car and wait, I eventually fell asleep waiting, when a cop knocks on the window. I woke up and put down the window, he asked my for my ID, insurance and registration. I told him I had my ID but that the car I was in, wasn’t mine I was just waiting for a friend to come out the club. He said okay he will be back. When he comes back he ask me if I have a medical card I told him no but my friend does. He told me I had to get out the car and that he had to search it, I asked why. I wasn’t really sure what was going on or if I was doing anything wrong because in the state of Florida smell of smoke is not probable cause to search the car. Anyways, they searched the car and ending up finding other things that wasn’t mine and I got charged with 5 counts of possession, including having to go to jail that night and not one of my suppose to be friends spoke up or helped me out. I have never been to jail or had any encounter with cops until that day. I was stuck there for 3 days, the judge let me out on ROR because they couldn’t keep me in there any longer without any valid evidence. Now we are going to court and my lawyer is asking for $10,000 I have payed $4,500 so far, but struggling with paying the rest between rent, cars, gas, utilities, my salon studio, and person expenses that are getting out of control and I really need help getting out of this situation. I hate to ask but it’s my last resort at this moment anything will be appreciated.
