I need help caring for my disabled sister until I start getting paid from my new job.
Both of our parents died our dad in 2021 and our mom in 2024.
I made a promise to my mom that I would take care of my sister. Our mom passed suddenly and unexpectedly so there was no time to prepare.
I have been struggling hard for the last 2 years and my sister has ultimately paid the price.
She needs a new shower chair, potty chair, clothing, shoes, bed, hair cut (I tried to do it at home and let’s just say she wore a hat for months..)
I need a car. I always took public transport but I absolutely cannot with her. She is mentally handicapped and her anxiety shoots through the roof on public transport causing a lot of chaos. I have tried to save for a car but my current job barely pays enough for me to pay rent and afford groceries. Most day I go without food so I can make sure she eats.
She is diabetic and has only ever eaten fresh cooked food so her carb and sugar intake can be closely monitored. I do not qualify for SNAP and food pantries in our area do not give fresh food. Believe me I’ve tried multiple.
Right now the biggest needs are a shower chair and a car. She cannot stand on her own for longer than maybe 3 minutes and she is far too big for me to hold up in the shower.
