I am 54 year old woman that has been independent all of my life. I work as a 1099 contractor and i do not get PTO or vleave of absence paid. I was in a domestic situation in which my ex boyfriend beat me up and nearly lkilled me. Because of his abuse I was havingi problems walking in which I had to use a cane for several months. I finally went to the orthopedic due to the pain was getting worse he told me that the injury of my left leg cause damaged to.my left hip and thatI need a hip replacement. and that was going to be the only solution so that I would not have paiin anymore. We schedule the surgery on 10/17/2023. I told my boss that I was having surgery and that I need a leave of absence he told me just to let him know when I can come back. Meaning that I work.as a self contractor I dont have any PTO or vacation time. I am aski g for help to paay for my rent, utilities , my car, my insurance and groceries for 2 months until I can .go back to.work
