I am reaching out here in the hopes of getting some help when it seems I’ve run out of options.
I’ve been fighting with doctors the entirety of my life and now that I’m 30, my body can no longer “tough it out”. To be honest, I’m mentally maxed out at this point too. I’ve been trying to find a sustainable job and applying for any financial assistance programs out there but I’m consistently being denied. Too disabled/limited to be considered for most jobs but supposedly too “abled” to qualify for disability supports.
Health issues:
- Herniated disc -> strict limitations on holding any one position due to proximity to a nerve.
- Chronic migraines -> unpredictable functioned day to day
- Moderately severe gastritis -> unpredictable agitation
- Severe menstrual pain
- Chronic knee pain -> limits standing or walking for long periods
- ADHD, depression, and anxiety
- Fibromyalgia
- Sleep Apnea -> need a CPAP machine, but it’s not covered under provincial health insurance. Typically costs $2000. Apparently being able to breath and sleep isn’t considered a basic need judging by limited supports.
- Chronic Fatigue -> worsened by sleep apnea and the other health issues
Unable to find maintainable work and support, I have a credit card with $15,000 owing. I lack a reliable form of transportation due to an encounter with black ice a couple months ago, mostly stranding me on a farm with my partner’s family. Thankfully they have been lovely enough to take me in during my toughest times, but I have no way of offering rent to compensate.
Currently, I’m trying to find ways to create my own income using my diploma in fashion design. My mobility issues have thus far proven a barrier to finding work in the industry. Thank you for taking the time to read about my situation and any help you are able to offer is genuinely appreciated.
