Hello!
I am a 64yo man that, at the moment, is in serious financial need. This ask is not something that I take lightly… I struggled with the idea of doing this, but the need drove my final decision to take this step. I am encouraged in this by the fact that, because of my upbringing (parents were ministers), I have helped many people along the way with spiritual direction, companionship, time, food/clothing, shelter, finances, muscle, and much more. So I have a clean conscience that I am not asking for something that I have not spent a lifetime doing for others.
I want to say, from the outset, that I have worked since I was 10yo, and have been diligent about my responsibilities as a husband, father, and citizen throughout the years. For the last 5 years (even thru the pandemic), I have worked as a substitute teacher in public schools in central Ohio.
The reason for this ask is because this past Spring I came down with a severe case of Shingles that covered the right side of my face (nose and upward) and scalp. Lamentably, the Shingles also made its way into my right eye, and caused an abrasion that has subsequently affected my eyesight. This is in addition to the condition of severe hypertension that I have been diagnosed with (9 yrs) and getting treatment (medications) for.
As a result, I was not able to work during the time that I was recovering from this. The Shingles onset was in mid-March, and I was not cleared to work until after the school year was over. I received a lot of physical and financial support from my family and some friends during this difficult time. Furthermore, I was not able to find summer work until vacation was almost ended, so my finances did not get back on track.
In the meantime, between rent, bills, loans, gas/car-related costs, and medication, I am really struggling financially.
I am appealing to your generosity and good will to help me with $3500 to at least get my head above water while I work towards resolving this more permanently. Anything you can help with will be very much appreciated. I am grateful for taking the time to read this, regardless of whether I receive anything or not.
