In 2012, I tragically lost my husband to a massive heart attack. Over the following year and a half, I also lost four close friends and family members who were financially reliant on me.
I was the anchor holding our family together, organizing events, dinners, and holidays. Professionally, I was a bookkeeper and owned a small financial consulting business. My husband worked in the tool and die industry, and before his passing, he ventured into a business with his father, into which we invested everything we had. Sadly, the business wasn’t structured to include him as an owner, leaving our investments unrecognized.
This loss left us with nothing. We lost our home, I lost my job, and everything fell apart. Seeking support, we moved in with a family member, where I sought counseling and began rebuilding.
Eventually, we secured a new home through a lease-to-own agreement, and I rebuilt my consulting business, transitioning to work from home. However, health issues arose due to mold in the house, leading to a lengthy battle with the owners, resulting in homelessness after declining a settlement due to health concerns.
After navigating homelessness and health struggles, I found a job out west, only to face my grandchildren’s placement in foster care due to family issues. Despite being approved for their kinship program, housing struggles due to past legal battles have hindered my ability to provide a stable home for them.
I’m in dire need of financial assistance to secure housing, recover from damages caused by storage flooding, and prevent my granddaughters from being placed in the system permanently. Any support or guidance in Windsor, Ontario, would mean the world to me. I’m desperate to keep my family together.
Thank you sincerely for any help or advice you can offer.
