Breast Cancer Survivor in Need of Dental Implants after Chemotherapy

My name is Kristen Webb, and I’m writing to ask for your help. I am a five-year breast cancer survivor living in Sonoma County, California. While I am deeply grateful to be alive today, the lasting effects of chemotherapy have taken a painful and visible toll on my health—particularly on my teeth and jaw.

In April 2019, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. I underwent 8 rounds of chemotherapy (including four rounds of Adriamycin—also known as “the red devil”), 30 rounds of radiation, a lumpectomy, and the removal of 12 lymph nodes. The treatment saved my life, but it also severely damaged my bones, nails, and teeth.

By 2020, shortly after finishing treatment, my teeth began breaking off—one by one. It started in the back, so I could hide it for a while. But in 2022, I chipped a front tooth on a cough drop. Since then, I’ve been using over-the-counter plastic repair material just to feel comfortable smiling in public.

Today, I have only four teeth left. I suffer daily pain from the broken ones, and my jawbone is rapidly deteriorating due to osteoporosis and osteopenia—both results of my treatment. I also received a post-treatment bone infusion (Zometa) meant to strengthen bones, but one of its serious side effects is jawbone collapse. This has further complicated my ability to get timely dental care.

I recently had X-rays done and was told that my bone loss is so advanced that if I don’t act soon, I may no longer be a candidate for permanent implants. The best and most realistic option for me now is a procedure called “All-on-4,” which uses four implants to anchor a full set of permanent, natural-looking teeth—restoring both function and dignity. Unfortunately, the cost is $41,000.

As a full-time live-in caregiver for a 38-year-old developmentally disabled man with severe autism and epilepsy, I earn about $2,200 a month. While I live simply and work hard, this kind of dental care is far beyond my financial reach. I don’t have bad credit—but I also don’t have much credit, as I was unable to work during my long recovery period.

I’m humbly asking for your help. This dental restoration would not only relieve my constant physical pain, but also allow me to eat, speak, and smile with confidence again. Most importantly, it would restore my quality of life after fighting so hard to stay alive.

I can share photos of myself before and after chemotherapy, along with a recent X-ray showing the severity of the bone loss. And any nessarary proof of cancer treatment.

If you find it in your heart to help me—whether through funding, referrals, or sponsorship—I would be forever grateful.

Thank you so much for your time and compassion.

With sincere gratitude,
Kristen Webb🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼
