My name is Brishti Pervin, and I am reaching out for help as I navigate a very challenging time in my life. I am 52 years old and divorced, and I’ve been battling several serious health issues, including an enterovirus infection in my blood (which has no known treatment), chronic fatigue syndrome, hypothyroidism, high blood pressure, joint pain, and depression. These conditions have left me unable to work consistently for the past five years, but I’ve recently started a trial job as a companionship caregiver in an effort to regain my independence and stability.
Unfortunately, my financial situation is dire. I filed for bankruptcy in January of this year, which helped me manage my credit card debt, but I am now facing a new challenge: my car. I drive a 2010 Toyota Prius, which is now in terrible condition. After a recent accident, the rear bumper and the right back of the body were damaged, and the engine has become faulty. The fuel system needs replacing, and several other parts of the car are broken or no longer working. It has essentially become a junk car.
I visited Toyota for an evaluation yesterday, and they valued my car at only $1,000. The lowest-priced car they offer is around $15,000, which is far beyond my financial reach. Due to my bankruptcy, I am unable to secure financing, and in my current situation, I don’t have any way to purchase a reliable car.
I started my new caregiving job on Tuesday, and while I’m grateful to be working again, it is a low-paid position. After covering rent, bills, food, and fuel, I will barely have any money left over for anything extra, let alone the cost of a car. My work is not on a bus route, and starting next month, my Prius won’t pass the smog test and could stop working at any moment. I’m concerned that if I buy a very cheap, old car, it will frequently break down, and I simply don’t have the money to constantly repair it.
I am humbly asking for help to raise $15,000 to buy a reliable car that will allow me to continue working without the constant worry of breakdowns or expensive repairs. This would make an enormous difference in my ability to keep my job and regain some stability in my life. Any contribution, no matter how small, would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and consider helping me during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Brishti Pervin
