Allow me to introduce myself.My name is Audrey.i am 57 yrs old, I have copd, acute on chronic right sided heart failure,chronic hypodemic respiratory failure,coronary artery disease,and a few other medical conditions that require alot of drs. Appts.
I have a 1994 dodge dakota 4wd that I highly depend on,that because of its age seems to always have something wrong with it of various costs and importance.Till now I’ve managed to fix things as they’ve come up,without it costing me every dime of my social security.( I get 980.00 per month, and I have no savings,no assets, and no family.)my medical problems forced me to quit working, so for the first time in my life I ve been needing a loan ,because my truck needs about $2000.00 worth of work( maybe more,won’t know till I can take it in) and it’s not stuff that can wait a year while I save half my monthly income till I have enough to cover it.Thats where the problem lies.I found that even though I have no debt, wich I thought would be considered a plus,I cannot get a loan that I can pay back in reasonable payments over time, because when I was married all the bills were in my husband’s name,even though we both contributed- giving him awesome credit,and me none.! It has been quite a shock. If my truck doesn’t get fixed and gives up completely I can’t afford another vehicle,wich would not only make it alot harder to deal with my medical issues and multiple frequent appointments,it would also prevent me from doing one of the few activities I can still enjoy without gasping for air or being in pain- driving.being able to visit friends, drive to a river or up in the mountains really helps when I get mentally beat down by my challenges. So,here I am.asking strangers for help to save the life of my vehicle,wich will actually be also saving me in more than one way. I’m going to leave a detailed list below of what’s wrong with the truck,so you can estimate yourselves how much it will take to fix it, at this point I’m desperate and out of options.As far as I’m concerned ANY HELP I can get will be a blessing, a miracle, and greatly appreciated. HERES WHATS BROKE:
1)There’s a short in the electrical system that at various times affects the,passenger side turn signal,headlight,taillight,melts the plastic off the tops of assorted fuses, and occasionally gives me small shocks.
2) when I put the new fuel pump in the gas gauge stopped working.(major pain with an old truck as I have 0 idea how many miles to gallon I get)
3) axle? Bearings? More? Broken on front drivers side,resulting in wheel riding at a tilted angle,resulting in2 so far,working on third of my set of brand new tires I saved months for thinking I’d be good for a bit to be ruined,and I’ve used my spare and don’t have another one.so I not only have to fix the problem, I have to replace the tires too( but if I get it fixed before the third tire goes ill have one of them left to use for a spare)(the cheapest I could find 4 tires was 1200.00)
4) the driveline for the 4wd is off,but this one can be put off,I don’t have to have 4wd.
5) the rear window needs to be replaced,but this too is optional,its been out at least 4 yrs,i just retape the plexiglass once a year
6)for the first two years I had the truck it would overheat multiple times a day,especially in summer,sometimes severely( the motor was literally red-hot at least 3 times,bilingual common)
After I replaced the radiator it’s been fine, but it’s been a year and I haven’t been able to afford a basic tuneup( filters plugs points fluids ,etc) the oil in it is super thin and black, and it’s a miracle,surely,that it runs at all and the seals don’t leak it for sure needs a major tuneup
7)there’s only one windshield wiper hooked up, the other is on the dash inside. And finally
8) the condenser for the air conditioning just quit last week,could be the short, or actually be out – no way to know,but this I can live without too if I have to
So there you have it.my nightmare problem that to most people is probobly laughable,but to me can totally ruin my life as well have a major impact on my health.thanks to anyone who even took the time to read through, whether you decide to help or not- you didn’t have to,and get nothing for yourself out of it,yet you still are here.thanks and God bless
