First off, thank you for taking the time to read my post.
This is new for me. I’ll start by stating a little about myself. I am a father of 2 girls and 1 boy. Ages 7, 3 and 5 mos. I was born and raised in the heart of Newark, NJ but moved to Louisville, KY at 19.
Fast forward to now. Currently 32 years old and was just permanently laid off by Jack Cooper Transport. Ive been employed there since moving to Kentucky in 2011. My gf is currently in nursing school and has no income. It was tough as is trying to maintain things on my income alone. There is no chance of me getting my job back unfortunately so I’m actively in the job market.
We have three vehicles, all of which are not currently running aside from one, Our oldest, a 1997 toyota corolla that’s on its way out. We shopped our 2015 durango for repair, paid 3k that we didn’t really have (winter time and we have young kids – this vehicle is a necessity for us) only for them not to fix the issue and tell us we need to pay 4k more in order to fix the issue. We also have a 2018 Ford fusion that has a blown engine.
We were able to make rent for february but march and April are not looking very good. We are almost down to no car since we can’t afford to repair our durango and we are behind on payments since we put out a lumpsum for the repair. Hopefully the bank will not repo it from us.
Our oldest is getting surgery on the 10th of March. It would be nice to have a comfortable and safe vehicle to transport our baby from the procedure.
We are making due with what we have and we help all we can. We are asking for some love here, some help to get us through these times.
Our goal is 10k. This will allow us to fix our vehicle, pay rent for 2 months and catch up on the vehicles payments while I search high and low for employment that will sustain our family of 5. I feel less of a man, that I am unable to provide my family with comfort at this time. Especially since my gf is in school and needs to be focused on her schooling. I don’t enjoy making my family worry on whether or not their man/dad can take care of them.
Please to those that see this, donate what you can. Thank you and God bless.
