My name is Matthew and I have £5000 of credit card debit and owe £700 to my parents.
I took out a bank loan to buy the car. First mistake. I wish this kind of thing was taught in school. If i had taken out car finance I think a lot of my problems could have been avoided. Don’t get me wrong, I could afford the normal repayments so to me it made sense.
The car came with 6 months warranty and there were issues that were ‘sorted out’ with the turbo but the car ran great and it made me happy. After the warranty period passed the clutch went. I went to try contact the dealer, but they had stopped trading. So that was £1000+ for a clutch and flywheel. A few months pass and the car starts having trouble changing gear. Needed a gearbox rebuild because the guy that replaced the clutch didn’t put the bolts in correctly and that wrecked something in there. Long story short, gearbox rebuild for £500 and a lot of he said she said. Some time passes and I notice my car starts drinking oil, which i keep topping up, but eventually the engine goes. Now i have a car loan on a car with a blown engine. I found a mechanic that would do an engine swap from a car from a wrecker. Swapped that one in and there was something wrong with it so it had to be taken out and swapped again. Mechanic still needed paid for labour. It drove for about a week then the same thing started happening again and the car was drinking oil. Back to the mechanic and in fairness he has done me a solid where he rebuilt me an engine out of the 3 and charged me very little labour and replaced the botch fixed turbo and egr cooler (i didnt know the dear had botched the fix on them). The car runs great now, i love it. My problem is the debt that its racked up. If anyone feels generous enough to help a guy out that made a bad decision id be grateful forever. It would take so much stress off my shoulders and enable my partner and I to start saving for a house.
Thanks.
