Hi people of the internet!
I am looking for some help with car repairs.
I currently have a 2009 Ford Fusion with over 156,000 miles that needs some minor and major repair work done. Apparently, one of the CV joint needs replacing because one of the boots is cracked, it also needs some preventative maintenance like an alignment, shocks and struts replaced, and the transmission fluid changed. And I’ve been driving with my check engine light on for almost two years (ugh), so that needs diagnosing and repair too. I’m most worried about the CV joint because I had a previous car with the same issue and when it broke, I was without a car for almost 2 months. The CV joints primarily connect the axels to the front wheels, in worst case scenario a badly worn CV joint can even fall apart while driving which could lead to an accident and makes the car completely undrivable.
So, here is a little about why I am looking for some financial help. Since my finance and I split up two years ago my financial situation has slowly been deteriorating. The breakup left me stuck in an apartment that takes a little over 65% of my income to cover the rent. I really need to move to a cheaper apartment but am unable to save any money to pay deposits, first/last rent, etc. because all my income is taken up by rent, utilities, and basic living expenses. So, obviously I also haven’t been able to save up any money for car repairs, or anything else like the dental work I need done. My financial situation is such that it has also caused my credit score to drop due to late and missed payments, as well as some defaults. So, any loan I’d qualify for I can’t afford the high interest and payments. I’d buy a newer car but am not in a financial position to afford a car payment since I can barely afford my regular living expenses.
I’m a single, 52-year-old woman, and have no family with money to loan me or I would go that route. I currently work 2 jobs, a full time and part time. Both jobs require I commute over 30 miles one way to work, I drive around 360 miles a week, so having my car in good running order is important for me to remain housed.
Thanks so much for reading!! Any help would be appreciated.
