I’m a Norwegian expat living in the Philippines. As a sideline, I’m helping small businesses here with business loans. Typically street vendors, sari-sari stores, local small restaurants, and home-based cooking businesses.
Since the pandemic, many people have been left jobless here, and I’ve given a helping hand to several businesses since then. The amount ranges from $100 – $400.
A lot of people use “five-six”-lenders here with horrible interest rates of 20 % per month. Me, I help them out for only 15 % per annum. They get 14 months to pay – two months without payment, and 12 months downpayment with interest.
Some businesses go bust, but most of them survive. So I can’t really guarantee you get the whole amount back. But I do my best to ensure that the people I lend money to have good business ideas.
