My name is Nathanael. I am a 34-year-old autistic adult.
When I was very young, I drank something that I thought was water. It turned out to be oven cleaner. I was rushed to the hospital. I was fortunate to be alive and eat properly after being told by the doctors that I would have to be fed through a tube for the rest of my life.
Since I am autistic, I suffer from gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and from not being able to consume certain foods and drinks, which makes it difficult for me to try other types of consumption. I also suffer from burnout and anxiety.
I was not diagnosed with autism until my mid-20s. I struggle with a rare hearing disorder called hyperacusis resulting from autism that manifested in October 2014. I have tried to get help from doctors with this problem to no avail since I started seeing a doctor in 2015. When I try to get help with hyperacusis, I cannot afford the treatments. Because of hyperacusis, I struggle to comprehend what is audibly spoken when I try to watch videos to learn how to make money online. I have to turn the volume down to a level that does not cause excruciating pain, and I need to have captioning in the videos so I don’t feel pain. It is more difficult for me to do physical labor because of being autistic, which is why I try to look for ways to make money online. I have trouble making friends because of my autism.
At 50 years old, my mother passed away from liver disease in 2012, which happened because my mom suffered from hypothyroidism at a very young age. I was 22 years old when this happened to my mother. My father shows signs that he is also autistic, and he is very difficult for me to communicate with because he is so self-focused. My father could be a better parent if he would be more aware. My oldest brother is married with kids. My older brother is schizophrenic and has not been able to support me financially since September 2023. My younger brother only helps me if it’s convenient for him. My other younger brother lives in Virginia and goes over seas. My sister has social anxiety issues. I am not able to contact my uncles. My cousin suffers from tinnitus, and she wears a prosthesis. My grandmother passed in 2001. My grandfather passed in January 2020.
When my dad remarried after my mother passed away, it made things worse. I had to deal with a stepmother that had an alcohol addiction. My father used my stepmother and did not take very good care of her. She ended up having to be responsible for taking care of my younger brothers and me. My dad and my stepmom have been separated for a few years.
I was denied Social Security the first time I applied for financial benefits back in 2015. I have been scammed financially online many times in my life, realizing I am vulnerable because of my autistic traits. In 2015, I gave away $8,000 to a guy I thought was my friend. In 2019, I was scammed on the phone with 3 Google Play gift cards up to $500, thinking that I was going to receive a large sum of money. I also had been scammed of $500 cash from someone claiming to be from PCH that I had won a million dollar prize and an expensive car. In May 2023, I was scammed from letting someone use my Chase Mobile app to get a $500 check sent to me that turned out to be fraudulent. I ended up having my Chase account closed. I feared that I would become a victim of identity theft. I had my Facebook account hacked in December 0f 2023, and then I got scammed out of $600 from my Cash App through Bitcoin from someone claiming to be from Facebook support when I called the supposed number that I looked up.
I need a total of $5,200 to cover a business expense. If someone can help me with this, it would mean so much to me. God bless you.
