I’m 65, disabled, and homebound (14 yrs). Being a shut-in wreaks havoc on my mental health. Four years ago, I was evicted from my home of 20 years. To keep me off the streets my family took me in. I never know how long I can sit, stand, walk, or bend before pain takes over. I lay down most of the day to relieve pain. I was stuck in between four walls. My solution to being a shut-in is simple, join a community of vanlife nomads. Vanlife solves many issues but mostly I can go anywhere if my bed is with me. Getting help will not only keep me off the streets it’ll completely change the quality of my life. I sold everything and saved. I purchased a van and found an affordable builder (⅓ less than others). He installed the floor, insulation, and covered the ugly roof in fabric. I was gifted a solar system, bed platform, seat with table, and reflectix for the windows. I was also gifted a barely-used Tempur-pedic mattress. To finish my van I need $4000.
I am now living in my van and would like this to be my home for at least 10/15 years. Please help finish making my van into a comfortable home, for both my physical comfort and more importantly, for my mental well-being. I am hoping for enough funds to pay for the following: cover the walls in an easy to clean vinyl and to have cabinets built for organization. My van build is more than halfway there, but it is taking me five years to get this far. To finish my van without help would take another 4+ years; at that time, I will be 69+ years old. BTW, Currently I am saving to have an emergency travel fund of $3500.
