Dear Animal Lovers,
I’m reaching out to you with a plea for help on behalf of my beloved furry family member, Louise. Louise, who I adopted from a rescue, is a sweet and gentle soul who has brought endless joy and unconditional love into my life. Unfortunately, Louise was born in a puppy mill and never received any vet care. Due to an injury Louise is completely blind in one eye and mostly blind in the other. She also has another severe eye condition that causes extreme pressure in her eyes and also leaves them bulging so she cannot close her eyes and causes them to dry out. She receives eye drops twice a day along with a lubricant to help keep the pressure under control but the drops are not working like they used to.
The combination of all these conditions leave her in discomfort and distress.
The good news is there is hope for Louise. There is a surgery performed by and canine Ophthalmologist that can help her to be able to close her eyes and help her keep what little vision she does have. Without this surgery Louise’s condition will only deteriorate causing her to lose all vision and eventually her eyes will need to be removed. The skin is then pulled over where her eyes used to be and sutured closed.
However, the cost of this surgery is around $9,000 to $10,000. As much as I wish we could cover this expense on our own, it is simply beyond our means.
