Help a Disabled Army Veteran Regain Financial Stability After Divorce and Custody Expenses

I am a GWOT era United States Army veteran with a 100% VA disability rating, and I am asking for help with the financial burden of divorce and ongoing family litigation. Approximately $50,000 in attorney fees has put enormous pressure on my finances. What I need now is some breathing room: help reducing that burden so I can meet my everyday obligations and work toward a more stable future.

Writing this request is difficult. My military service and professional life have taught me to take responsibility, solve problems, and keep moving when circumstances are hard. Asking strangers for financial help is uncomfortable. But continuing to struggle quietly does not make the bills smaller, and I have reached the point where I need to ask.

The hardest part of this experience has been the uncertainty surrounding my family. Financial strain is exhausting on its own. When it exists alongside concerns about your children and an unresolved legal process, it becomes difficult to find any sense of security. I cannot control how quickly that process moves, but I am trying to regain control of the financial consequences.

To protect my children’s privacy, I will not publish their names, personal circumstances, or details of disputed family matters. I am also keeping other people’s identities out of this request. My purpose here is to explain the financial hardship I am facing and ask for assistance with it.

I am employed and receive veterans’ disability compensation. I want to be clear about that because I am not claiming to have no income. My difficulty is that income does not automatically make accumulated legal expenses manageable, especially when ordinary living costs and existing debt payments continue every month. I also have assets tied up in unresolved property matters that are not presently available to pay these expenses.

I have explored borrowing, but additional loans have not provided a workable solution. Taking on another expensive payment would add to the problem I am trying to resolve. I am also working to limit further legal spending and make careful decisions about the resources I have.

Donations received through this request will go toward outstanding legal expenses and essential household bills. Any assistance would reduce the pressure to borrow more and help me preserve enough financial stability to keep moving forward. I am not expecting one person to solve everything. A contribution toward even one bill would make a practical difference.

If you are in a position to give, I would be grateful for your help. Behind this request is someone who has served, continues to work, and is trying to get through a painful chapter without allowing its financial consequences to determine the rest of his life.

Thank you for reading my story and considering whether you can help. I know there are many people asking for support, and I appreciate the time and attention you have given mine.
