Fled for our lives with nothing: Had everything, but we fled from an abuser, Now we have one cot we are both sleeping on in a completely empty home.

Hello, I am a grandmother raising my 12.5 yr old  granddaughter, and we are currently facing a heartbreaking emergency.

We recently had to flee our previous home in the middle of the night due to severe safety reasons. It was a matter of life or death, and we had to flee immediately or continue to live in severe fear & constant abuse.

Because we fled so quickly, we had to leave absolutely everything inside our home behind & fled with only the clothes we were wearing and I  hid a small bag outside few weeks back waiting for this exact moment to come when we would need to grab it to take with us..inside I packed only 1 change of clothes for each of us and a small thin blanket, our ID’s & important documents.

People always say, “Oh, you could have left the abusive partner.” Well, yes, I stayed for many years because I didn’t want to leave and have absolutely nothing.

We both lived in terrible fear every single day, but we also had everything we needed until I realized it wasn’t worth it.

It is a terrifying thing to have to face. This decision to leave for good was one of the most hardest and most important decisions I’ve ever made in my entire life, But I did it, I found my pstrength, took my granddaughter and fled in the middle of the night. We finally made the first move and left the abuser, but we also left behind everything we had everything we loved, we left behind all the comforts of home, our personal belongings, our beds, our blankets, our clothing, ect. We had only seconds to make a life altering decision and we took it without thinking anything about how things will be for us in the future when we resettle again and now its hit me that my granddaughter and I are really in need of some serious help, Please someone help us..

I managed to find & secure a safe roof over our heads, and bought us food with money I started saving before we fled, it was only enough to cover rent & damage and to buy some groceries, we have absolutely nothing else Or I could of bought blankets and no food so I chose food.

We are living in a completely empty house with no furniture, no beds, no blankets, just nothing to even eat off of or to cook food on.

As the weather gets colder, my granddaughter and I are  sleeping on a small cot I had enough left over from my savings after paying rent & food. The floor is hard, the cot is thin and my back is in pain, and we are covering up with my jacket & nothing else to keep us warm.

I am doing everything possible I can, but after covering our emergency relocation costs, my bank account is empty and I cannot afford even the most basic necessities.

My disability benefits cover only rent, utility costs and food each month. We have no dishes no pots, no pans, no cuttlery…no soap, no towels, no cleaning supplies, Nothing but our cot on the floor, no table abd chairs no couch, just empty echoeing rooms. It doesnt at all feel warm or cozy as a home should feel.

Sleeping on this thin cot on a cold floor is really starting to feel like we are being punished for leaving , and it breaks my heart to see my granddaughter living like this after what she’s been through this past few days, having everything but living in fear to having her life and living now with absolutely nothing.

We are starting from litterally zero. We made the first move, and now we need help from whoever is financially able to & willing to help us turn this empty cold home into our home sweet home!

*Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward basic mattresses, warm bedding, and simple furniture so we can rebuild our lives in safety and dignity. So we  can feel like we made the right choice when we fled. We will not ever look back or turn around and go back not ever!*

*We really need a philantropist, someone altruistic to help us and to be our hero forever!*

*To make this new rental our home sweet home and safe comfort zone it will cost $5000 give or take which includes buying my granddaughter and I some clothes & shoes, winter gear plus all the household & other items I mentioned above to make our new home feel like a home!*

All donation amounts are welcomed and very much appreciated from anyone who wants to help us succeed in our brand new fresh start so we can start moving forward

My granddaughter & I Thank you so much for caring and for your kindness, compassion and generosity!.
