I never thought I would be in a position where I would have to ask strangers for financial help. I am usually the person who tries to figure things out, work harder, and keep pushing. Asking for help is uncomfortable for me, but sometimes life happens, and right now I could truly use a helping hand.
I am a registered nurse and a mother of three children. I work hard to provide for my family, and one of the biggest reasons I decided to continue my education was to create a better future for my children. I knew going back to school would require sacrifices, but I wasn’t prepared for how difficult things would become financially.
While I was in school, there were times when I couldn’t work as much because I had to balance classes, studying, clinical requirements, work, and being a mom. At the same time, the cost of groceries, utilities, housing, and everyday necessities continued to rise. I started relying on credit cards just to keep everything together.
Little by little, those balances grew. Now, even though I make payments, so much goes toward interest that it feels like I am constantly paying without getting ahead. I also have student loan debt from trying to further my education and improve my family’s future.
I am not looking for a luxurious lifestyle. I simply want some financial breathing room. Our apartment is too small for my family, and one of my biggest dreams is to eventually be able to purchase a home with enough space for my children. Before I can seriously work toward that goal, I need to get some of this debt under control.
It is humbling for me to write this because I don’t like asking anyone for money. I know everyone has their own responsibilities and struggles. I am just a mom who made the decision to better herself through education, while trying to provide for her children, and unfortunately accumulated debt along the way.
Any help I receive will go toward paying down my debt and helping me regain financial stability so I can begin saving toward a better future and a better home for my children.
