After 15 years in private elder care, hospice, and palliative care, and more recently helping some of those individuals relocate to be closer to family, and helping others by providing post-surgical recovery care, I’m now at a turning point.
Recognizing the wave of retiring baby boomers and the reality that approximately one in three seniors will be affected by Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia, I see a growing need for support, education, and resources for families providing dementia care at home.
My goal is to build a business focused on helping those families navigate the challenges of caring for loved ones while maintaining dignity, safety, and quality of life.
As part of that preparation, I am continuing my education through training with Teepa Snow, whose work has helped caregivers and families better understand dementia care while also recognizing the importance of caregiver well-being.
I’m also investing time in learning new technologies, modern healthcare tools, and emerging resources that will help me better serve this growing population.
To help cover household expenses over the next couple of months while I prepare, I’m seeking $7,500.
I am pursuing separate funding opportunities for the future business itself; this assistance is simply intended to provide the time and space needed to prepare thoughtfully and effectively.
Even caregivers need an opportunity to pause, recharge, and gain perspective. After years of caring for others through some of life’s most difficult moments, I am seeking a brief period to do exactly that so I can return with renewed focus and purpose.
I am deeply grateful for your consideration and for any support you may choose to provide.
