Foreclosure has begun on my home, and I am running out of time. I was laid off from my corporate HR job as a Benefits Specialist in April, a role I loved because every day I was able to help employees when they were scared, confused, overwhelmed, or in crisis. It gave me purpose to be the person who cared and who guided them.
Then I became the one who needed help.
Unemployment has not been enough to cover my mortgage and essential bills, and I only have three weeks of unemployment left. The amount needed to stop the foreclosure and bring the mortgage current is $11,775.43. Without it, I will lose my home.
I apply to jobs every day in HR, Benefits, LOA, and Retirement roles. I am consistently told I do not have enough talent acquisition or payroll experience, or that I am overqualified. I am doing everything I can to get back to work, but I will not make it in time without help.
I have applied to every possible assistance option. My credit is not good right now due to this hardship, so getting a loan is not possible at this time. I will work on rebuilding my credit once I am stable, but I do not have enough time to fix that before the foreclosure deadline.
It is extremely humbling to have spent my career helping others and to be now asking for help from strangers. But I do not have another option. I am asking for help to keep my home while I continue to fight to get back on my feet.
Any amount you can give makes a difference right now. If you cannot donate, even sharing this could save my home.
Thank you for reading this and for anything you can do in this urgent moment.
With a heartfelt thanks,
Irene
