My name is Brenda, and I live in Antwerp, Belgium. I’m pursuing an Advanced Master’s in Development Evaluation and Management at the University of Antwerp, a dream I’ve chased across continents, fueled by a burning desire to create tangible change in the field development evaluation for projects linked to humanitarian aid and gender equality
I witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of poorly planned development projects within local communities in my country, with consequences felt by the vulnerable, especially women and children. This ignited a passion within me – a yearning to understand what works, what doesn’t, and how to build truly sustainable and equitable futures for marginalized communities.
The program at the University of Antwerp is exceptional. I’m learning from leading experts, engaging in cutting-edge research, and collaborating with brilliant minds from across the globe. Each lecture, each project, is equipping me with the tools to become a more effective agent of change.
However, my journey is precariously balanced.
As a self-sponsored student, I shoulder the entire financial burden myself. I work tirelessly to make ends meet, juggling part-time jobs with the demanding coursework. But the rising cost of tuition and rent in Antwerp is pushing me to the brink.
I’ve exhausted my savings, and the constant worry about meeting my immediate needs of completing my tuition fee of 1500 euros and paying off a student loan of 6000 euros overshadows my studies. I am currently in my last year of study.
I believe in the power of knowledge to transform lives, and I am determined to use my education to make a real difference. I am seeking an investment in my potential to become a catalyst for positive change. With your help, I can complete my studies at the University of Antwerp and contribute meaningfully to a world that desperately needs skilled and compassionate development professionals. Your support would not just be funding my education; it would be empowering me to weave a better future for countless others.
