Would anyone out there like to help me buy an apartment? I only need the money for the deposit. I can afford a mortgage, as I am already paying so much for rent.
My name is Marta. I am a 36-year-old Portuguese woman living in Ireland. I am a nurse, and I work full-time as a clinical nurse manager in a nursing home, a job I love.
Although fulfilled in my career, I am not fulfilled in what is most important to me, having a family, being a mother, and being with a person I love. I have not been lucky in love, and the person I thought I would grow old together betrayed me in a way I can’t seem to recover from. Times pass and everyone asks “How are you single”, but no one understands because no one knows.
My family is in Portugal, and although I miss my family and love my country, I can’t be financially independent there. That is why I am in Ireland. But I am lonely. I see everyone together, married, with kids, buying houses and I am stuck. I have been distancing myself from everyone because I did not achieve any of that.
I live by myself in a one-bedroom apartment. Life is hard as a single woman. And it is even harder when you have no support.
I have not made the best decisions since I came to Ireland, I lost a lot of money buying my first car, because I got scammed. I didn’t know I had to start a private pension, so it took me a few years to start. I only started investing in October 2023, because my sister spoke to me about it and advised me to start it.
I am behind in every way. I have been trying on my own and I have not succeeded. I need a guardian angel, someone to bet on me, to help me, to support me.
I want to have a place of my own, a place I can call mine, where I can foster as many pets as I want. I am hardworking but I am not but I don’t have enough money to apply for a mortgage and the clock is ticking.
