It sounds like a Billy Bob Thornton movie but it really happened. The company said I could keep the relocation money and offered me another position lower on the totem pole with less pay. I had to say no just out of principle. I do not want to work for someone who would do this after weeks of logistics and preparation.
We sold practically everything and loaded what was left in a U-haul before we left Atlanta to move to Reno. I am burning up zip recruiter, monster, linkedIn, etc with resumes and applications. I have had several interviews and expect a job soon, but I also expected to be earning a paycheck a few months ago.
God bless my wife. She is working road shows pulling 12 hours days for 10 days straight with just 3 days off before going back to another road show (selling cookware at Costco). She is the best thing that ever happened to me but it only brings in grocery money and a few bills.
Bottom line is that we are big believers in paying it forward. We’ve raised 5 wonderful kids, have 3 grandkids, and have been there for those who have needed a helping hand. Now we need one.
