Despite facing some really difficult times in our past 7 years together we would find a way through. It seemed like at the very last moment, when all hope seemed to be lost, someone would show up with exactly what we needed to make those ends meet. And from there we could take what little bit of help that came our way and we were back in the race. I must admit, that our survival every time was almost solely due to the hard work of my boyfriend who honestly, has worked magic with the little we have had. Together, we are fighters, we have clawed our way back from places 99% of people just can’t come back from. Both of us were homeless prior to meeting but since getting together we have lived at the same apartment since July 2nd, 2018. We have found strength in one another during times of self-doubt, we have found a way, even if we had to pave the path ourselves and we have fought fair even when everyone around us was doing the opposite. We have weathered every storm…until now.
Tonight, this straw has officially broken the camel’s back. If we can’t find a kind person to give us a hand, we will drown.
Back to 2021, my boyfriend was taken to the hospital because of stomach cramps and within 35 minutes of being admitted he was on life support. He had an oxygen level of 72 when the average healthy adult’s oxygen levels usually fall between 95-100. I was told had he of fallen asleep that night he would’ve passed away in his sleep. He would’ve suffocated to death.
Come to find out, he had blood clots in his legs that had traveled to his lungs and 2 weeks after being admitted to the ER a scan revealed over 40 clots between both lungs. To add insult to injury, literally, due to not being moved his first week on life support he had contracted a bad case of pneumonia along with a large pocket of fluid under his left arm pit. He spent 2 more weeks in the ICU before they told us he needed to be put back on life support because they had been successful in getting source control. Basically, they couldn’t stop his body from shutting down despite putting him through the misery of inserting 3 chest tubes between his ribs to drain the fluid. So he was back on life support for another 8 days. For 22 days he had those tubes in his back! Finally, he was released from the hospital on his 47 day and we couldn’t have been happier. Little did we know our fight had just begun…Which brings us to where I am now. 3 years, 2 more pneumonia episodes, 1 type 2 diabetes diagnosis, 1 shoulder surgery, 1 stolen antique, and 1 broken deep freezer later, writing this campaign in my pajamas on our basement stairs, after helping clean up 20lbs ( literally 20lbs) of meat and other good food gone bad, after our deep freezer broke this morning. I am begging any kind person who can help to please help us.We need money for groceries, our food stamps are already used up and since the majority of our food was in the deep freezer, I am afraid if we can’t find a way to get groceries until the beginning of January what will happen. We go to the local food banks but losing this amount of food is devastating.
To make ends meet we get vintage and antique items from estate sales, auctions, yard sales etc… Clean and fix them up to resell online through my Ebay account. In July an Ebay customer of ours scammed us out of an $750 vintage Geiger Chatham Scintillation Radiation Detector Counter (Model SC-102). Then, as if losing this extremely rare and super expensive piece wasn’t enough, Ebay turned around and put my Ebay account $721 in the negative so I basically couldn’t sell anything since I couldn’t pay for shipping costs. 5 days after all of this happened Ebay then tried to take that money from my Chase Bank account. This resulted in 2 overdraft fees at $34 each and a $35 returned check fee for one of my credit card payments that bounced due to my account being in the negative. I opened a fraud case with the local police, contacted Ebay and Fed-ex and opened fraud cases with them, I even contacted the BBB. I got no traction with anyone!! Everyone kept passing the buck and to make matters worse the item I had for sale (Which was extremely unique, it was even in the Smithsonian Journal) is being resold on Ebay as we speak!! I told Ebay, they have done nothing! we got my ebay account in good standing but all other bills have become late, I have also had to take out two loans just for food and toilet paper etc.
Like the 2010 Ford truck we bought at the end of the spring. It wasn’t taken care of at all by the previous owner. But it has worked really good until this week it has begun to idle very low, so I made an appointment with Ford to find out what’s going on in the 18th of December. Things we KNOW that are needed on the truck that have been put off: new wheel on the back passenger side, a new windshield, new brakes and rotors, 4 tires as ours are bald and a diagnostic test to find out the reason behind the check engine light being on.
My monthly check is barely enough to cover our rent, not to mention all our other bills. My boyfriend is in the middle of applying for disability due to his lungs being so badly scarred he can’t breathe to work.
Is there anyone out there that could help us get back on our feet? We will take grocery food cards, gift cards to get our car worked on at our Ford Dealership (Can give the specific info just contact me), and any other help that you can provide if it helps us accomplish these goals. I have proof of Ebay scam, the overdraft amounts, the loans for groceries and necessities. I have researched the prices of everything listed. We wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t desperately needed. Thanks so much for your patience in reading all of this and thanks so much for helping in any way.
All in all we need $3,383 to get back on our feet. I can give more details, proof and pictures for anyone who needs them. Thanks so much for reading!
