Hello,
I’m a 39-year-old U.S. Army veteran, single mother of two amazing boys. If you would’ve asked me 2 years ago if I would ever see myself writing a 400 word “essay” describing my situation in hopes a stranger would be willing to help, I would have raised my right eyebrow and said, “nope’. But here I am, doing what I NEVER thought I would do and learning that the phrase “never say never” couldn’t be truer.
On July 2023 when my oldest son had gotten extremely sick and following doctors advise I stayed home to not only care for my very ill child but to also keeping my infant from getting whatever his brother had since he was highly contagious. I missed a total of 4 days of work and after almost 6 years of being with the company I was let go because they (property manager at the time) did not deem E.R. discharge papers and doctors notes sufficient for my days to be excused and/or allow me to use sick days. After weeks of job searches, I finally had received an offer which I was very grateful for and did not see any other option but to accept and prepare all for the move. After witnessing that I had sold everything I owned and was ready to make our move, my son’s father decided he would sue me the morning I was set to leave Texas forcing me to stay, losing another job and spending what little I did not have on attorney’s fees.
From August 2023 to now I have been fighting for one child, supporting the other on his decision to join the military all while struggling to keep the roof over my head and what little sanity I have from going left on me as well. After years of hard work and owning my pride for being the strong independent woman/mother I had always been I found myself struggling and facing one brick wall after another. I have been humbled to say the least. I am living in an apartment in my son’s name and now facing eviction because I have not been able to get caught up financially all while still dealing with what the Texas courts believe to be in the “best interest of the child”. I am actively searching for work but if I do not pay the total amount due ($6,500) as soon as possible I will lose the apartment and face the possibility of losing my son.
If you have read the brief breakdown of my story and are considering helping, I do have legal documents that backup every single one of the above statements and have no problem providing.
Now, to whomever is reading this; it is 1:32am and I have spent all day online and/or on the phone seeking emergency assistance to which I’ve had no luck so I do apologies for the rambling.
Thank you for taking the time to read a snip of my story and even if you choose to move forward with another’s situation, THANK YOU for being an answered prayer to someone in need. I had no idea this was a “thing” and to learn that there are people out there willing to help a stranger this way is very honorable.
Thank you.
