I have been living from paycheck to paycheck all of my life, so it did not take long for me to fall behind with my rent after losing my only source of income and now I am three months behind in rent payment. I lost my job when the company suddenly decided to close their doors with no explanation and no extra pay. I am a senior but not yet at retirement age and I don’t have a disability so I do not qualify for social security benefits. I owe $4,800 for rent and I’ve already been to court. They told me that I have two weeks to come up with the money or I will have to move. I don’t even have the money to move and don’t know where I would go. I’ve tried several different gigs with very little success and now out of ideas of how to come up with this money, plus I’ve borrowed from everyone I know and still come up short.
