My name is Heather Smith and my family and I are about to lose our house due to the weight of unexpected medical bills from my Crohn’s disease, which I have had since I was 18 years old. I have been hospitalized 4 times over the last 11 months, including two major surgeries, and the medical bills have significantly taken a massive toll on our finances. I work as a school counselor and help support over 500 students, and usually I am the one helping them and their families with resources, however I need the help now. I have two children, Ainsley and Porter as well as my husband Shad. We never ask for help, but I do not want to lose my forever home. It is where we live and raise our family. I coach my son’s basketball team, and volunteer so much in the community. All I want to do is save my sweet home. Then hopefully, I can help the next family that might be facing medical hardships.
