Hi! My name is Ava and I am a freshman at Ball State University studying studio arts and computer science. I have a toxic home life and I want to get out as soon as possible. Right now I live in a dorm but I need at least 6,000 to stay in the dorm. My mom refuses to help me and will not be approved to cosign loans. My dad is out of work because of the writer’s strike even then he does not make a lot of money and he’s helping my oldest brother because he got laid off. I have a disability, so work is hard to find plus my mom would not let me work in high school, and when she did it was already too late. And if I had a job it would have to be art based. I am now working but I have to pay for art supplies and I play a sport, so I have to pay for travel, food, dues, etc. For the whole school year my job barely half of my tuition for one semester. I cannot commute because I can’t drive and I can’t live at home again. My granny and mom yell about things that can be settled easily, like spilling water, wanting to go outside, etc. They used to abuse me and I fear that it will happen again and I have no where to go.
