Hello,
My name is Shay, and I’m currently looking to move out of my parents’ home and actually start living my life. I currently have an average job and I work 50-60 hours a week to pay down my debts. Due to poor financial decisions in college and requiring a hospital stay from a ruptured spleen, I’ve accumulated $20,000 in debt, and I see no end in sight. I’ve cut out a lot of things to be able to pay this off, and I stick to a rigid budget and pay everything on time, but it feels like I’m not making a dent in what I owe. I’m very ashamed and embarrassed I let it get out of control, and I take accountability for my part in this. I just want this to go away so I can start saving towards a home and start a family.
I never wanted to be caught with my tail tucked between my legs because I’ve always been independent, but I feel defeated. I’ve learned it doesn’t hurt to ask for help. Anything is greatly appreciated.
