“I have always wondered why in my country they do not create a fund to support and help all our athletes.
It is a fact that despite seeking help, I have not been able to find support for a 15-year-old (9 in his sports career) whom I decided to support since he was 6 to achieve one of his biggest dreams, which has been to become a world champion in speed skating.
Since his father left at the age of 2, leaving his mother as the head of the household, I decided to financially support him to help him succeed and achieve his dreams. When he started his sport, I thought and envisioned him as a great athlete who perhaps, with a little help from me, would reach the top. However, I have concluded that over time in a skater’s life, speed skating increasingly becomes a filter that only lets those with significant financial support, either from their parents or the occasional influential organization, continue in the competition, understanding that talent often takes a back seat.
I have dedicated part of my life (time and money) to help my young promise, always giving him the best encouragement in the process and supporting him so that he excels in his discipline, providing moral and psychological support in his moments of difficulty, both emotional and physical, to help him persevere.
Every day that he gets closer and closer to that dream, we realize that the economic resources I provide are not sufficient because each training session, equipment, physical assistance, the number of competitions, among other factors, are increasing and adding up, generating much higher expenses than I initially estimated. These are crucial aspects to achieve balance in his sport, helping him maintain a high level compared to other competitors and enabling him to make the leap to the big leagues.
Unfortunately, my economic condition is no longer sufficient to supply him with the necessary equipment for his training (wheels, skates, and clothing, payment for insurance and medical assistance when needed, monthly fees for staying in the training club, gyms to further develop his strength, equipment for physical conditioning, protections), among other expenses that, as mentioned earlier, are increasingly accumulating as he advances to a higher category.
Furthermore, his family also lacks the necessary resources or simply does not show any interest in supporting this cause.
That is why I am seeking the support of one or several people who wish to help my young promise and manage to bridge the gap between him and his dream (to become a world champion in skating).
If you are interested in supporting this young talent, I leave you this link here. Your help will be very important for this decisive part of his journey.
