I hope you’re having a good day. I wanted to reach out because I am currently facing a dire situation and feeling extremely worried. The sheer amount of medical expenses I have incurred has put me in significant debt. This has led to a deep sense of depression and leaves me feeling lost on how to improve my situation, both physically and financially.
The conditions affecting my health include scoliosis in my back, as well as compression in my L2, L3, T11, and T12 discs. In the past, I have undergone procedures such as epidurals and pain blocks to manage the pain, but unfortunately, the effects of these treatments now only last for a few months. As a result, my specialist is recommending fusing some of my vertebrae together as a more long-term solution.
To cope with the pain, I have been on a strong regimen of painkillers, antidepressants, anti-inflammatories, and various other medications for a considerable period of time. Regrettably, these medications have had adverse effects on the production of saliva, leading to dental issues. I have lost several teeth, particularly the ones crucial for chewing. Apart from the obvious challenge of being unable to enjoy basic pleasures such as eating steak, I have become very self-conscious about my appearance. If given the chance to restore my dental health, I promise to cherish my new teeth and continuously wear a smile, never taking it for granted.
Living alone, I often struggle to leave my house due to overwhelming anxiety. Adding to this, my family is located on the other side of the country, and I haven’t seen them in over four years. This fact makes me feel like a terrible son, sibling, and great uncle. Initially, the reason for the distance was related to concerns about Covid-19, and my anxiety towards flying has intensified the issue. However, I am determined to be there by April next year, which will mark my beautiful great niece’s first birthday. Due to my mother’s inability to travel and my sister’s family having busy lives, we have become a close-knit family despite the distance. I miss them immensely.
This is why I find myself reaching out for help. I understand that it is impossible to assist everyone, and regardless of the outcome, I genuinely appreciate the amazing work you do for those you can help. Depression is a subtle and pervasive illness, and I currently feel trapped and isolated. I do not want to remain in this state. If there is even a remote possibility of reclaiming a life where I can laugh and smile without guilt, I humbly ask for assistance in rediscovering that path.
