Greetings friends, and supporters,
My name is Kahlil Malik Muhammad and I am an American national living in South Africa, for the last 20 years. This is my 32nd year of teaching mathematics and I am making a difference in lives of children via my South African nonprofit foundation.
OMI Foundation NPC is pleased to announce our plan to help South African students, this academic year, with supplementary mathematics instruction. Each school will have access to our mathematics lessons on a weekly basis.
Our plan is to help 4 classes of 20 students for 45 minutes, daily, per session. This opportunity allows us to help 80 students per session, at one school, and 160 students per day, except on Friday where we shall help 80. We have scheduled 9 sessions per week. A total of 720 students will benefit from our courses.
Our morning session will be from 7:50 AM -11:00 AM, Monday – Friday and our afternoon session will be from 12:10 PM – 3:20 PM, Monday – Thursday during normal school hours.
OMI Foundation will teach the fundamental elements of both pre-algebra and algebra, in the beginning, and advanced algebra as we progress throughout the year. South African students battle with mathematics and this subject is the lowest performing in the country, after the national exam, each year.
Many of my students have unemployed parents and some of them live in shanty towns, commonly called “squatter camps” in South Africa, with no running water or electricity. On average, these students seldom have access to school supplies, commonly called stationery. Each of my students will be supplied with pencils, pens, calculators, math sets, and paper by our program so that we may function, effectively, without distraction.
The goal of our class assignments, quizzes, tests, and exams is 100% pass and we shall revise the material until our students are able to achieve said results. No student shall advance without mastery of the respective topic.
The cost per student is $62.50 for the academic year, which is $1,250.00 per class or $5,000.00, per class, for the full academic year. OMI Foundation NPC, we issue a Section 18A receipt for tax credit for South African donors.
We need your assistance to help us make a difference in the lives of a South African children, as we have done for the last 12 years. Students, classes, or schools may be sponsored. At the request of the donor, monthly progress may be shared in terms of progress.
By the end of 2019, OMI Foundation had given more than $125,000.00 USD to students, teachers, and schools.
Our efforts have shaped the lives of young people who have become accountants, actuaries, engineers, lawyers, medical doctors, and pilots. We wish to continue helping young South Africans turn into formidable leaders.
Please give a donation, today, and help us prepare a young person for a better future.
