Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you all in advance for taking the time to consider my situation. I am a father of 2 beautiful children. I have always been a provider for my children/family, ensuring that all their needs were met, at home, academically and athletically. Trouble started for me when Covid came along and I lost my job. What little savings I had were quickly chewed up over the next year and during that time, my hardship forced me to miss on payments to creditors and taxes. For the first time in my life, I was scraping the bottom of the barrel and my credit was taking a nose dive.
Fast-forward a year later, I secured a job that took me to California. It was a blessing for two reasons, 1) it brought my wife closer to her family back in her home state and 2) The job offered incredible benefits and an equity position after a year. That said, despite the equity and two incomes between my wife and me, the high-tax rate and other unforeseen expenses kept us struggling financially. By August of 2023 after 17 years, we separated and moved into separate places. It was hard on the kids, and even harder on our finances. To add insult to injury, on November 17th, 2023, I was laid off from my job with many others due to cutbacks. During the last almost 5 and a half months, I have been applying endlessly to jobs, managing only 3 interviews, several rejections, and others that did not respond. Now, I find myself for the second time, the Covid period being the first, since moving out from my childhood home, being supported by an unemployment check and my amazing mother. I am frustrated but my faith keeps me grounded and hopeful that the tide will change for me here soon.
OK – (sigh) I am here asking for $40,000 to support the following while I rebuild my credit, search for a job, and re-establish financial stability:
- IRS and Credit Card Debt Payoff in Full – $15,300 dollars of debt.
- Rent/Utilities (for the next 4 months) – @$2850 per month = $11,400.
- Back Child Support ($1000 per month X 5 months) – $5000. If I can at least get this to my wife, I can breathe easily. To her credit, she has been quite understanding, but she too is beginning to feel the effects of my job loss.
- Health Insurance $450/month – $1800 – we no longer have health insurance. My wife’s job hired her on as a temp, so she did not get medical coverage. She is being considered for a permanent position and hopes to secure the job once she interviews. When this will be is a tricky question, because the company has also been on a hiring freeze.
- Business Marketing & Developement $6500 – For the past few years, I have been slowly developing a business, that empowers individuals to live their best lives while inspiring those around them. This business is my passion and I discovered it when my son made a simple birthday request for me to quit smoking in 2o14. I could not give it the best attention over the years because my job’s obligations did not afford me enough time. The business uses positive words, we call mantras, and art on hats, tees and hoodies inspire the one wearing the brand, while provoking conversation. The products have been sourced, and designed. The website is nearly completed and the LLC is formed. This money would be used to market the clothing on all social media platforms and finally launch the brand, where a percentage of the proceeds will go to feeding the homeless, providing them clothes, and other initiatives. Make no mistake about it, I am still looking to secure a job with benefits for my children and my former wife, this is my priority because I know that this little business will take time to flourish.
In closing, please know that I deeply appreciate those of you who took the time to read this. I am super grateful for any donations. This site is a blessing, regardless of my outcome and I am so grateful that it even exist at all.
May God Bless you all!
