A couple of months ago, I experienced a great loss in which quite
frankly, I’m still trying to get through. My father passed on the day
of his birthday, which shook the family to the core. Overwhelmed with
grief, my wife and I flew out of state to pay our respects for the
last time. During the funeral, everyone took proper precautions with
masks and social distancing, trying not to infect each other except
one. As a result, my wife ended up getting the corona virus two days
after getting back into town. She ended up going to the hospital, due
to major breathing issues. Turned out that the virus was so severe, it
lowered her oxygen levels below 80 and she also contracted pneumonia.
It was a scary situation, and it left me wondering if I was going to
lose her. Glory to God, my wife made it through, if just barely. The
head nurse said it seemed like none of the treatments seemed to be
working initially. Needless to say, I wasn’t able to go to work
because of this, and two weeks later when I was supposed to go back I
tested positive myself for the virus. That was another two weeks I
had to stay out of work, which left my savings account pretty scarce.
I felt helpless, but I had hope that things would get better because
of my job. I knew it probably wouldn’t be a great Christmas, but at
least we would start to get back on our feet. I was cleared two weeks
later on Friday, and was ready to come back to work Monday morning. On
Saturday morning, I received an email stating that due to growing
severity of the virus, that my workplace would be shutting down. I was
devastated, because I thought we would be okay, not to mention our
savings account was pretty much wiped out by this point. I had to ask
some churches for assistance with rent, however I’m completely bogged
down with other bills. Since then, it has been extremely
difficult to find employment, and everything is just so overwhelming
right now. At this juncture of my life, I’m in over my head in
debt, and it’s only been piling up since not being able to find work.
