Thank you for taking time to look at my page.Where do I start. My name is Tapfuma Shumba, originally from Zimbabwe. Im a 36 year old father of two beautiful boys who I adore.I came here to the Uk just after I had turned 18 and have never gone back to my home country since. The reason not being that I don’t want but because I couldn’t. Background of my story is I came on a student visa and eventually became an asylum seekers. My journey was rough but it taught me a lot about life. Most people assume that it is easy being in a foreign land with no papers to actually progress yourself in society but it’s not. Dont get me wrong,I’m not looking for sympathy,I’m actually happy about that happened in my life so fa.The good and the bad.
To cut the story short I went through the process off seeking asylum and eventually was granted indefinite leave to remain.Happiest moment of my life.I was on top of the world because this meant countless opportunities had come my way.First thing I did was enroll on a degree course with the University of Wolverhampton and got a degree in accounting and finance.I met my partner shortly afterwards and before we knew it we were celebrating the birth of our first son.Finding a job was hard without a passport because most employers didn’t like the idea of hiring someone who just had a piece of paper granting him permission to stay.To make things worse life became a bit difficult after Brexit. Attitude towards immigrants changed.I eventually landed a job working for a company in a finance team but haven’t really had the opportunity to utilise my degree but had to settle as we were expecting another little bundle of joy.Like my mother always told me,its not what you do it’s why you do it.I get paid enough to pay the bills and just barely make it to the next payday. This is the reality of the world we leave in,most disheartening thing is knowing there are thousands of family across this country in the same situation.
The hardest challenge about finding is the lack of having a passport. This is why I have made this attempt to ask for help to raise money for the process. As an immigrant, the process is long, series of tests and applications that cost a lot of money for anyone who is struggling to make earns meet already.I don’t know if this would work but there is no harm in trying and I hope I can get to a situation where I can have enough money to start the process of applying for citizenship and make a better future for my family.
Thank you reading this and I hope I haven’t offended anyone by coming on here.Reading through what other people are going through makes me feel as is my issues are nothing.God bless.
