Invalid woman needs help on her path to independence

Dear readers,

my name is Marta, I live in the Czech Republic, I am 43 years old and I am an invalid pensioner. I would like to use this site and try to solve the difficult life situation that accompanies me. I suffer from a complex of birth defects called Fraser syndrome. Due to this syndrome, I have not been able to participate in normal life all my life. I no longer have a family and I am therefore dependent only on myself and social benefits, which do not allow me to become independent, and I am therefore dependent on them. Only about 160 people worldwide suffer from Fraser Syndrome, which means that in more than half of the world, the disability is not accepted by the social and health care systems. I often found myself in situations where I needed medical care and due to an imperfect social and health system, I was not entitled to it. So I often fought for survival precisely for financial reasons – even the minimum cost of housing and food often does not match the amount of my social support. In this way, I am not asking for the support of my living budget, but for a contribution to the realization of my path to independence. In addition to a lifelong physical disability, I also gained some talents and I would like to use them in my life.

From a young age, I tried to paint, wrote poems and tried to sing. However, I never found enough understanding in my family for this activity, I was someone they did not want to deal with or whom they would like to support. Due to my deformed fingers on both hands, I did not learn to play any musical instrument. Much later, an old laptop that I inherited from my deceased father helped me a lot in my composing. Music can also be created electronically, and I was finally able to create at least a simple musical accompaniment for my lyrics that the old laptop made possible. I enjoy singing and I began to gain confidence, despite my physical shortcomings. It was very inspiring for me and I started painting on the theme of my music again. The problem came when my laptop went out and I was where I was before, without the means to realize my path to independence. Because Fraser syndrome includes a rare defect called anodontia, I’ve been wearing complete dentures since I was twentyfour. Unfortunately, my current dental prosthesis is 15 years old and does not hold in, not only when eating, but also when singing. I have to be sure of myself, when performing in front of the audience, which I would like to. This is not possible with the old dentures that already look very sent. The production of a new dentures will take maximally two months.

The reason I am writing this letter is because I need to raise funds that will allow me to continue my desired work in the future.

1) laptop  600 EURO

2) prosthesis  400 EURO

3) technical equipment for my live performance 1000 EURO

The season is beginning, and if I manage to raise these funds, I will be able to start earning extra money as a musician, and at the same time I believe that in a while I will be able to invest the money I earn in my painting. I found out yesterday, that on this site is a way to get financial help, so I do not turn to other sites, where obtaining funds is limited by the provider’s deadlines or otherwise. I hope that the readers of this letter will understand my situation and my desire to be independent.

Thank you, Marta.
