Hello! I am an art student trying to enter the College of Creative Studies in Downtown Detroit. My aim is illustration or entertainment arts, and to work in an industry where this craft is acknowledged.
I am steadily improving and I post quick sketches on my website. Due to time, I have trouble with refined works.
One of the few requirements for applying is an art portfolio or six or more pieces. As an artist, this is something I should work on in general, even if I don’t make the cut. My aim is a variety of media from graphite to painting, but there is a lack of resources. Art tools are expensive; I like to purchase from a local DickBlick store , and prices are slightly reduced online.
What I’m aiming for is the following items (estimate):
*Martin Universal Design Museum Artist Portfolio $37.58
*Art S. Buck Anatomical Models M + F: 34.95 each
*Natural Artist Chamois: 4.45
*Blick Sketch Pad Board (23-1/2″ × 26″) $13.59 or *Portable Art Studio Drawing Board (20″ × 26″) $71.05
*COPIC Original Markers (36 Colors): $188.64
*Drawing Pencils (Set of 12) : $10.62
*Caran d’Ache Neopastels (Set of 24): $45.93
*Alvin Vinyl Eraser:$0.83
Utrecht Watercolors (Landscape 12): 102.59
Utrecht Watercolors (Portrait 12): $97.99
Conté Crayons (Assorted 12) $16.19
This might not be official and the money goal is an estimate. So far, I have pencils (including draft pencils), charcoal (willow and pencil), ruler, tortillion and knife. I’d like to save for extra materials such as extra vellum paper, kneaded erasers, and a few particular art books that I’d like to own. I currently having drawing (i.e: 2 bristol) and sketch books.
REASON FOR CROWFUNDING: I am living off of school loan. Despite working, I don’t (and can’t) live on my own due to not being financial stable. I like to challenge myself so I want this portfolio.
Please visit me on my above WP website for portfolio/sketch updates and for contacting.
I also do a project called Sketch a Day, whcih are pics of loose, casual stuff that I sketch in under roughly 5-10 mins (Average 3-8?) using a No.2 (HB) pencil. Started in 2016.
